For the second Sweets and Treats Friday of Vegan MoFo 2016, I bring to you not a decadent dessert, but a seasonal spin on a healthy beverage. If you love kombucha as much as I do, you probably have your own favorite flavors already. But, if you make your own at home I encourage you to try out a flavor you might not have tried before: Apple Spice Kombucha.
Do not fear if you have never brewed your own buch at home – you can get started easily with my how-to post on making your own batches of the stuff. Once you’ve done that, you can branch out into new flavor combinations.
This flavor was inspired by the ubiquitous apple-spiced-everything we see each year as fall rolls around. Why not kombucha?
To make this tasty beverage, all you need to do is combine 1/2 an apple, a sliver of ginger, and a sprinkling of cinnamon and nutmeg into your container and pour your ready-made buch on top. Once it carbonates, you will be ready to go.
I was pleasantly surprised with how this came out! Honestly, it tasted just like apple cider. A probiotic-packed apple cider, with a fraction of the sugar, that is. It was a very refreshing addition to a vibrant fall day.
Go get your apple spice on!
